Operation:

The ILST-UV-C-LED air disinfector performs air sterilization in a similar way to classic UV-C air disinfectors, using state-of-the-art UV-C-LED technology.

UV-C light with a wavelength of 265 nm destroys the DNA structure of microorganisms (virus, fungus, bacteria). Different doses of action are required to kill different organisms.

The 265nm wavelength is the most suitable for destroying the DNA structure. UV-C dose depends on the time of irradiation and the intensity of the irradiation, unit µJ / cm2 (J / m2). Efficacy can be determined by the dose that the device is able to deliver per unit time. Dose escalation can be achieved by increasing the exposure time. Air disinfection equipment is sized for air ducts of the size specified by the customer, as the size of the air duct and the air delivery capacity determine the amount of irradiation time required to deliver the required dose.

Like all light sources, their intensity gradually decreases over their lifetime, including UV-C LEDs. At 10,000 hours of operation, the sterilization efficiency of the UV-C LED is reduced to 85%. After 10,000 hours of operation, the light sources need to be replaced to maximize sterilization efficiency. 

Based on the international recommendation of IUVA (IUVA Guideline GO1A-2005), air treatment with the generally expected degree of sterilization, classifies air disinfection equipment according to the radiation dose. Air handling units must have a minimum URV rating of 14.
